Title: Trinket Talk
Team: Defenders
Pairings: Sam Wilson & Riley, Sam Wilson & Natasha Romanoff, Sam Wilson/Riley
Rating: PG for language
Warnings/Spoilers: Pre-canon compliant character death
Summary: Helping Cap with his search for his friend sure made a good time to get to know each other.
Notes: Written for the current challenge: grief.
"You ever going to tell me about that one?"
Sam honestly didn't know what Natasha was referring to, at first. "What?" He asked, shifting forward and pulling the lever under his seat up a bit more. Cross-country travel was a bitch on the hips.
"What's on your keychain," she replied.
He looked down. At the bag between his feet, at the ball chain hanging off the side.
His heart twisted and clogged his throat.
He looked at the bent bit of metal, the memento from Riley, the last thing he'd given him before—
Sam swallowed, settled back. "No. I'm not."
